Our story
Photography as an act of generosity
Philanthropy Photography was built on a simple belief: every organization doing good in the world deserves to be seen. We connect the people who can show that — volunteer photographers — with the nonprofits who need it most.
How we started
It started with a single conversation between a nonprofit director and a photographer at a community event. The director mentioned she couldn't afford professional photos for their annual report. The photographer offered to help — for free.
That one session turned into a relationship, which turned into a network, which turned into Philanthropy Photography. We formalized what was already happening organically: skilled photographers giving their time to causes they believe in.
Today, our community spans hundreds of cities. We've facilitated thousands of sessions — events, portraits, campaigns, and documentary work — all at no cost to the organizations we serve.
What we stand for
Four principles that guide every match, every session, and every image we help create.
Generosity first
Everything we do is rooted in the spirit of giving. No transactions, no fees, no fine print — just people helping people.
Stories matter
A photograph can move someone to donate, volunteer, or simply care. We believe in the power of visual storytelling to change minds and open hearts.
Community over platform
We are not a marketplace. We are a community. The relationships built through this work are as valuable as the images produced.
Accessibility for all
Small nonprofits with big missions deserve the same quality of visual storytelling as well-funded organizations. We level that playing field.
The people behind it
Philanthropy Photography is run by a small team of volunteers who believe deeply in this mission. We are photographers, nonprofit workers, and community organizers — united by the conviction that generosity is contagious.
